Welcome to The Home Café Guide.
I started The Home Café Guide because I was tired of spending $7 on a latte I could make better at home — once I figured out how.
How This Site Started
A couple of years ago, I bought my first espresso machine. I had no idea what I was doing.
I spent weeks reading Reddit threads, watching YouTube videos at midnight, and Googling things like “why does my espresso taste like burnt rubber” at 7am before work. Eventually, I figured it out — and the shots I pull at home now are honestly better than most coffee shops near me.
But the research process was exhausting. There was so much conflicting advice, so many expensive recommendations, and almost nothing written for someone who just wanted to make a good latte without a barista certification.
So I started The Home Café Guide to be the resource I wish I’d had — honest, beginner-friendly, and focused on what actually matters. No gatekeeping. No gear snobbery. Just real advice for real people who love coffee.
What The Home Café Guide Is About
Honest Reviews
I test and research every product I recommend. If something isn’t worth your money, I’ll tell you — even if that means recommending the cheaper option.
Beginner First
Every guide on this site is written assuming you’re starting from scratch. No jargon without explanation. No recommendations that require a barista course to understand.
Real Answers
I write about the questions I actually had — why does grind size matter? Is a $200 grinder worth it? What’s the difference between a latte and a flat white? Real questions, straight answers.
A Note on Affiliate Links 🔗
Some links on The Home Café Guide are affiliate links. This means if you click a link and make a purchase, I may earn a small commission — at no extra cost to you. This is how I keep the site running and the coffee research going.
I want to be completely transparent: affiliate income never influences my recommendations. I recommend what I genuinely think is the best product for you, period. If a cheaper product is the right choice, that’s what I’ll recommend — even if it earns me less.
